Can I use Simplyscapes for free? What benefits do I get from a paid subscription?
Yes. Anyone can use the Simplyscapes Visual Designer™ and Aerial Designer™ (beta) for free. This makes it easy to try the software and create a basic design. Subscribed users receive unlimited access to the design software, including full access to our library of over 1,500 plants, 10 premium design templates, and other landscaping objects and materials.
You also get our gratitude! Simplyscapes is a family-owned, self-funded startup. Your support makes ongoing improvements possible.
What's the difference between the Visual Designer™ and Aerial Designer™?
The Visual Designer™ makes it easy to explore ideas and get feedback from others before starting a project. Use it to create a photo-realistic design of a flower bed or an entire yard. This is our most popular product.
The Aerial Designer™ (beta) allows you to create a top-down design of an entire property. Use it to build a master plan and get accurate measurements for estimates. The Aerial Designer is under active development and will receive regular updates through the Summer of 2024 and beyond.
How do I save a design?
Designs are automatically saved to the web. Access your designs from any computer, tablet, or mobile device. Share a design with others by copying the web address and sending it to others through text or email. Anyone with the address can view the design. Only you can make edits. For Aerial designs, we hide the property address and location on the map.
Do you have a discount for students, educators, or non-profit groups?
Yes. Simplyscapes is an effective web-based tool for teaching the principles of landscape design and horticulture. We want to help. Students and teachers from schools, colleges, and universities can enjoy premium features for free. We extend this offer to qualifying non-profit groups and the media.

How does Simplyscapes Pro billing work?
Simplyscapes Pro is offered through weekly, monthly, and yearly subscriptions. Subscribe and receive full access to the Simplyscapes Visual Designer™ and Aerial Designer™ (beta). Subscriptions auto-renew. Cancel anytime.
Can I get a refund? How?
Payments for Simplyscapes subscriptions are non-refundable.
With that said, if for any reason you’re unhappy with Simplyscapes, please let us know. Email info@simplyscapes.com, give us a detailed account of what happened, and we’ll work with you to make sure you have the best experience possible.
How do I cancel my paid plan?
Cancel your subscription at any time. Manage your plan in the Billing Portal under Account Settings. After canceling, you will retain full access to the service for the duration of the billing period. After that, you will have limited access to your designs per the Free starter plan. Renew your subscription to restore full access to your designs at any time.
I can't find a certain plant in the Visual Designer™. What are my options?
We've partnered with the industry's top brands and have added over 3,500 plant images to the Visual Designer™. This list is growing rapidly. If you can't find a specific plant, here are some steps you can take:
Search by Scientific Name. Plants go by different names in different places of the world. We include the most common names. We also list plants by scientific name, which doesn't change.
Check Filter Settings. Ensure your filters aren’t excluding the plant based on your USDA hardiness zone.
Consider Substitutions: Look for similar varieties that might work as substitutes.
Upload a Custom Image: Simplyscapes Pro members can add custom images to the Visual Designer. Use this to upload your own plant images or company logos. Learn how here.
Request the Plant: Email us a list of plants you want to include. We’ll do our best to add them quickly and legally.
We also encourage community contributions. If you own high-quality plant images, please share them with us. We’ll try to process and add them to our library. We can attribute you as the source if desired. For more details, check out the Simplyscapes Source Image Guidelines.
